“The Great Fact for us” refers to a passage in the AA Big Book that says the great fact is that people with substance use disorder can and do recover through a spiritual and personal transformation.

When someone says, “I know the way out because I’ve been there,” they’re echoing the idea that lived experience, struggle, and recovery create a roadmap others can follow. It means hope is real, recovery is possible, and none of us has to walk the path alone.
